People have a variety of excuses for maybe not flossing their teeth. But dentist hilliard say you will find easy approaches to floss that address every excuse.
Would you floss? Or, like lots of people, can you always seem to locate a reason never to?

Flossing isn? t so much about removing food debris since it is all about removing dental plaque, the complex bacterial ecosystem that forms on tooth surfaces between cleanings. Plaque is the causes of tooth decay, inflamed gums (gingivitis), periodontal disease — and, eventually, tooth loss. Flossing or having an interdental cleaner may be the only effective solution to remove plaque between teeth.
Excuse {#2}. I don? t know how to floss.
Flossing isn? t easy. But practice makes perfect.
Here? s how a American Dental Association describes the procedure:
? Start with about 18 inches of floss. Wrap nearly all of it around the middle finger of one hand, the remainder round the other middle finger.
? Grasp the floss tightly between your thumbs and forefingers, and work with a gentle shoeshine motion to steer it between teeth.
? When the floss reaches the gum line, form a C shape to follow the contours of the tooth.
? Support the floss firmly against the tooth, and move the floss gently up and down.
? Repeat with the other tooth, and then repeat the complete process with the rest of one’s teeth (#(#(? unspooling? fresh sections of floss as you go along).
Don? t forget to floss the backs of one’s last molars. Most gum disease & decay happens in the right back teeth.
Excuse {#3}. I? m maybe not coordinated enough to floss.
Many tooth-cleaning options exist for people whose manual dexterity is compromised by poor coordination, hand pain, paralysis, and amputations — or just by fingers which are too large to match within the mouth.
One option is by using floss holders. These disposable plastic Y-shaped devices (some built with a spool of floss) hold a span of floss between two prongs to allow one-handed use.
Another option would be to forgo floss and clean between teeth using disposable toothpick-like dental stimulators (Stim-U-Dents, Soft-Picks, and so on); narrow spiral brushes (interproximal brushes); or the conical rubber nubs (tip stimulators) found by the end of several toothbrushes or mounted independently handles.
Excuse {#4}. I don? t have time to floss.
Effective flossing does take a while — once each day for 3 to 5 minutes. But even 60 seconds of flossing is of enormous benefit. Just like exercise, bathing, along with other activities, the key would be to make flossing a habit.
It helps to keep floss in plain view, along with your toothbrush and toothpaste. If you? re too tired to floss before bed, floss each morning or afternoon. Or keep floss on hand and put it to use once you discover the time.
Excuse {#5}. It hurts when I floss.
If flossing causes gum pain or bleeding, odds are you have gingivitis or gum disease — precisely the conditions which is why flossing is effective.
Flossing isn’t supposed to hurt, but stopping flossing as a result of bleeding (or pain) is merely the contrary of what you should take advantage of doing. The good thing?
