1-Almost everyone has heard of Omega3 fatty acids. But what are they really? And why would fatty acids be good for us? Hmmm Let’s give a look see.

2-The answer: Omega-3 fatty acids are essential fats that our bodies need to stay healthy – but that we don’t produce, so we have to get them from other sources. Omega-3 fatty acids, specifically DHA and EPA, reduce our triglycerides, blood pressure, blood clotting and cholesterol.

3-Omega 3 also lowers our heart rate and reduces the chances of getting heart disease. Not only that, O-3 increase brain development in babies and memory in us adults. Some researchers now even think that Omega3 may even help lower the tissue inflammation and reduce arthritis. Bam Put some fish on the menu!

4-And Since our bodies can’t produce Omega3 acids we must get it from other sources. Fish and shellfish ingest Omega-3 fatty acids from algae and phytoplankton, the main producers of Omega-3. While all fish contain DHA and EPA, fatty fish – salmon, sardines, pollock, halibut and flounder – are exceptionally high in Omega-3 fatty acids

5-Keeping a good ratio of HDL (good cholesterol) to LDL (bad cholesterol) and triglycerides is essential to maintaining a healthy body. When your LDL cholesterol levels are too high, you are much more susceptible to heart disease, stroke or heart attacks.

6-H.D.L that’s the good cholesterol helps prevent L.D.L that’s the bad stuff remember? From becoming harmful in your body. Most Seafood products are low in L.D.L and tryglycerides and high In H.D.L cholesterol. Eating seafood in the place of red meats or other goods with saturated fats lowers your L.D.L and tryglyceride cholesterol levels. One old myth is shellfish are high in cholesterol, but this is not at all true.

7-Most shellfish are very low in cholesterol and fats, especially saturated fats and contain less cholesterol than poultry or red meat. Eating seafood – especially fresh seafood – is a great way to help your body maintain healthy cholesterol levels.

8-Heart Disease is the number one leading cause of death in the USA and also one of the leading causes of death across the world. So, it’s imperative that we all keep our heart healthy and running strong.

9-Eating seafood is a great way to satisfy your appetite, obtain vital nutrients and help strengthen your heart. Numerous studies cite the many benefits of eating seafood, especially for our hearts. The American Heart Association recommends eating fish twice a week and states that people with Coronary Heart Disease should eat 3 or more meals of fish per week. A recent American Medical Association study concluded that people who eat fish 1-2 times a week decrease their chance of coronary death by 36%.
