Are Electronic Cigarettes A Safe Alternative To Smoking

Electronic cigarettes are a fairly new smoking alternative product that emerged in the later portion of the 2000s as an alternative to traditional tobacco cigarettes. Electronic cigarettes are also known as electric cigarettes, smokeless cigarettes, or e cigs. The product is designed to look and feel like a traditional smoke, delivers vapor smoke that contains nicotine and flavoring to the user, and do not have the more than 4000 toxins found in traditional smokes.

How Does the E Cig Work?

Electronic cigarettes are designed to vaporize e liquid into vapor smoke. The e cig makes the smoke you inhale by applying heat to the e juice with the e cig atomizer which is then inhaled. The visual smoke that you see when vaping an electronic cigarette is produced by propylene glycol or vegetable glycerin. The taste is provided by the addition of flavoring chemicals to the e liquid which also contains water. When you vape an electronic cigarette, many of the manufacturers also design their product to display a visual LED light at the end of the product in order to further give the look and feel of smoking a traditional cigarette.

Is the Electronic Cigarette Safe to Use?

One of the biggest disputes that you will see in the news when reading about electronic cigarettes is the fact that they are not an FDA approved smoking cessation product nor a regulated tobacco product. As a result, quality control concerns over electronic cigarette safety have arisen with many state and federal governments world-wide on how to cope with potential regulation of the product. Despite the fact e cigs do not contain the toxins found in traditional tobacco cigarettes, there is a concern over the quality of e liquid provided with the products being safe. As a result, American e juice is gaining popularity over Chinese made e juice. Health New Zeland and the U.S. FDA have found some e liquid manufacturer’s products to have some elements of TSNs. The nicotine found in the e juice can cause death in young infants or children if ingested.

Ultimately, choosing to make the switch from traditional tobacco cigarettes to vapor smoking is a personal choice. Making the switch to vapor smoke can result in improved health over traditional smokes, but stopping smoking remains the best choice to improve your health.
