A Young Woman Gets Arrested for “Drunk Driving”, Talks to The Human Resources Manager, and Gets Inspired to Turn Her Life Around and Recoup Her Self Worth

Shelly was known at work as an extremely conservative person who had a great work record. She in no way went to any of the happy hours immediately after work and it was regarded through the entire department that she was a very spiritual individual who regularly talked about the hazards regarding alcohol abuse and addiction to alcohol in our country.
Try to think of the surprise inside the office when one Monday morning Shelly did not show up for work and nobody had heard from her. Actually, it wasn’t until about 8:45 in the morning that the human resources department received a phone call about Shelly from the city jail.
Shelly Goes Out Drinking With a Several of Her College Dorm Mates

Shelly Talks to Her Manager and The Human Resources Director
When Shelly arrived at work on Tuesday morning, she instantly told her manager what had transpired and she asked if she could possibly go and talk to the Human Resources manager about her DWI arrest.
When she got to the HR department and met with the manager, she described that she had not been drunk since her college days and that she was extremely humiliated about her DWI arrest. She also stressed the point that she required some assistance selecting a professional and effective “drunk driving” lawyer who would represent her “drunk driving” case. Stated differently, Shelly really wanted the Human Resources director to agree that she needed to see a DUI attorney.
The Human Resources director told Shelly that she needs to see someone within the company employee’s assistance program to discuss any possible drinking difficulty that she may have. The Human Resources manager could tell that Shelly was visibly disappointed and embarrassed by this whole scenario. Consequently, he assured Shelly that while he doesn’t think that conscientious men and women really should ever get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol, sadly these situations at times transpire to very good folks.
The Human Resources director then said that since such a state of affairs can’t be undone, what is crucial is what the particular person does from this moment forward. As reported by the Human Resources manager, “does the person learn from his or her blunders or does he or she develop a pattern of alcohol related problems that cause the person chronic suffering and pain”?
Fortunately, Shelly Did Not Have a History of Hazardous and Abusive Drinking
Just before completing their discussion, the Human Resources director shared with Shelly that it was very positive that she doesn’t have a record of irresponsible and abusive drinking. Furthermore, she hasn’t had an alcohol-related issue since her university days (which was around 19 years ago). As a consequence, Shelly should be able to confront her DUI arrest with sorrow but also with a degree of self-confidence knowing that she will face and process this difficulty and become a better individual in the long run.
Shelly thanked the Human Resources director for his uplifting and stimulating words and then walked over to the company employee’s assistance program to discuss her DUI arrest, her participation in hazardous and abusive drinking drinking over the past weekend, and her wish to employ a “driving under the influence” lawyer to represent her “drunk driving” case.
After reflecting on Shelly’s “story,” the healthcare practitioner that was part of the company employee’s assistance program articulated Shelly’s immediate “action plan” that she needed to address and follow. First, she would be required to take a DUI class to learn more DUI facts and information. Second, she would also be required to take an alcohol abuse class to address her possible drinking problem. And finally, it would be a particularily intelligent thing to do if she were to talk to a DUI lawyer about her “driving under the influence” arrest.
Shelly Feels a Sense of Relief Knowing That She Will Learn From Her Error in Judgment and Grow To Be More Accountable
It was apparent that Shelly was incredibly displeased with the entire “drunk driving” situation, but after talking to the Human Resources director and to the healthcare practitioner in the company employee’s assistance program, she felt comfort knowing that she would in truth learn from her blunder and turn out to be even more healthy and balanced, a lot more responsible, and an even more thankful person.
